Kecopong is a patronage initiative where organisation leaders take on fieldworks, researchs, discussions as well as sponsor certain experts or individuals in the areas of leadership, specifically, in studying the carying degrees of leadership styles, of ancient and past kings, kingdoms and empires
Although ancient and past is a very open proposition, this initiative’s goal is to inculcate more appreciation towards local leadership legacies that has been eroded and quickly forgotten as it clashes with western thoughts and idea of what leaders are and what it represents. As we all know, the west are good at all things theory but their own leaders are not fool proof and perfect either
Rather than fall prey to this endless brainwashing of the idea that the best leaders are those trained in the western school of thoughts and institutions, we should band together and ensure, our resources regarding local leadership materials are collated, archived and improved on in timely manner. Our lack at this front, makes us or rather many in the business community, to feel inferior compared to those educated from the west or earns an MBA or so on and so forth. Althoug there are always basis in today’s standings and preferences, it is time that we make our stances clearer regarding local leadership needs and how to bolster our own local leadership intelligence regarding matter
Studying wars, their strategies, whether winning or losing, empires as well as maritime tradings will grow our leaders into appreciating what our ancestors have done to make things work. Although learning from any sources is great, they didn’t forget the importance of having roots and the understanding that foreign sourced knowledge at times are always presented with biases and those biases often clashes or intended to not only downplay and shame, but outright belittle the locals and natives of Tanah Melayu in general
